At Para-Ski we strive to give the most accurate specifications possible. Which is why we were surprised to find that the sizes of parachutes offered in the industry did not always correspond to the advertised size, or the size that the marketing name implies. For example; brand X 500, actually measures much greater than 500 sq. ft. Our parachutes more accurately reflect the true size by measuring the top of the lifting surface.

400 sq. ft. rectangular

This parachute is our latest design hi-performance chute. It can be used in a 1-place or 2-place machine. It is a 9-cell design weighing 15.5 pounds with a load rating of 700 pounds. If you want to go fast and make tight turns, this is the chute for you.

400 sq. ft. semi-elliptical

This parachute is the same as above except for the semi-elliptical design. Increased speed as well as tighter turns is achieved at 650 pound load rating.

500 sq. ft. rectangular

This parachute is our latest design mid to high performance chute. It can be used in a 1-place or 2-place machine. It is an 11-cell design weighing 18.75 pounds with a load rating of 800 pounds. This is a great all-around chute and our best seller.

500 sq. ft. semi-elliptical

This parachute is the same as above except for the semi-elliptical design. Increased speed as well as tighter turns is achieved at 750 pound load rating.

600 sq. ft. rectangular

This parachute is our latest mid-performance high-load parachute. Used mainly on 2-place machines, it is a 13-cell design weighing 26.5 pounds with a load rating of 900 pounds. Not designed for tight turns or high speed. If you need high lifting capabilities, this is the chute for you.

600 sq. ft. semi-elliptical

This parachute is the same as above except for the semi-elliptical design. Increased speed as well as tighter turns is achieved at 850 pound load rating.

656 sq. ft. rectangular

This parachute is an older 13-cell design with larger cell openings. It does not turn tightly nor is it very fast, but it can lift a large payload with a powerful engine or increase the payload capacity of a machine with a smaller engine. It has a 1,000 pound load rating and it can lift it more efficiently than any other chute.

Additional parachutes

We are now offering parachutes from Performance Designs and Apco. If you have a preference for a different type of parachute, we will make every effort to accommodate you. Not all makes of parachutes have been tested or approved on a Para-Ski.

Note: Load ratings define the maximum weight the chute will lift AND still maintain safe power off landing characteristics at full gross weight. A parachute is capable of lifting more than its load rating with a more powerful engine. Altitude and atmospheric conditions will also affect the load carrying capacity of a parachute.
